Foreign Languages & BSL
We've scoured the city to find the very best international wizards and witches and The Potter Trail is pleased to announce that our award winning tour is now available in German, French, Spanish, and British Sign Language.
Tours in other languages are currently only available as private tours, but we will be hosting public tours in other languages on some special occasions in 2025 (see below for details).
If you're visiting Edinburgh and looking to book a private tour for your group in French, German, Spanish, or BSL, simply fill in our form below and we'll get back to you with some options for dates and times asap.
The Potter Trail private tour content is the same as our Free Public Tours but you will get a unique chance to speak one-on-one with our guides to make sure all of your burning Potter questions are answered, and you have the option to customise your route to include more history or a few extra photogenic locations with your guide.
Our guides are skilled at matching the tour content to the audience and we have plenty to keep younger members entertained! If you'd like to add on any additional activities like potion making or a wizarding afternoon tea for your group after your tour, please visit our special events page and send us an enquiry, mentioning in the notes that you'd like it to be in another language.
We recommend a minimum age of 7 for children to get something out of the tour; although we can accommodate younger children as party members on private tours we really do caution that much of the content isn't accessible to very young children.
We ask you to bring something you can use as a wand. This can be anything roughly wand-shaped - pens, pencils and umbrellas all welcome!
Upcoming Public Tours in Other Languages
We will occasionally offer public tours in other languages when there is enough demand for them. Some of these will be free to join like our English tours, and others will be ticketed. The dates in our diaries are as follows:
British Sign Language
Our next public tours will run as part of the Edinburgh Deaf Festival from 8-17th August 2025, booking will open in early Summer 2025
French

Spanish
There are currently no public tours scheduled
A note for bookings in November, December or January:
It will be dark in Edinburgh from around 4pm during these months. We are still happy to run Private Tours at this time during these months but please note that the graveyard where we start the tour has no lighting and it will probably be quite cold. We've run plenty of tours like this in the past (your guide will bring a torch) but our tours are certainly more enjoyable in the light.
Our tours start at Bobby's Sandwich Shop near the junction of George IV Bridge and Candlemaker Row, and end on Victoria Street.
The tour will last between 75 and 90 minutes depending on how busy the city is.

Our cancellation policy:
With all of our private tours you'll get a full refund up to 48 hours before the tour and a 50% refund up to 24 hours before. Just email our Head Wizard Sam on contact@pottertrail.com and he'll be happy to sort this for you!
Cancellations within 24 hours of the start time are not refundable.
