Our private tours provide a more personalised experience at a time to suit you. The tour content is the same but you will get a unique chance to speak one-on-one with our guides to make sure all of your burning Potter questions are answered!
We have lots of experience in catering for groups of all types. We receive a lot of hen party, school group and children's birthday party bookings. Our guides are skilled at matching the tour content to the audience and we have plenty to keep younger members entertained!
Unlike our free tours these tours are priced per person with a price per head that varies depending on your group size. Children under 7 can join free!
If there's anything you can think of that would make your experience extra special then please include this in the Special Requirements section of our booking form. If you would like your guide to collect your group from your hotel, we can usually do this for an extra £20. Just let us know where your hotel is in Special Requirements!
Please read all the information below carefully before booking.
Our tours start at the statue of Greyfriars Bobby, at the junction of George IV Bridge and Candlemaker Row, and end on Victoria Terrace, the raised section of Victoria Street.
The tour will last between 75 and 90 minutes depending on how busy the city is.
Things we’re doing to keep you safe during our tours:
All of our guides will be wearing face coverings - either a mask or visor - for the duration of the tour.
2 metre social distancing will be enforced for the duration of the tour. We will only visit locations where this is possible.
Individual groups on the tour must not be larger than 6 people from 2 households in accordance with Scotland's new lockdown rules. Children under the age of 12 are exempt from this 6 person total.
All of our guides will carry hand sanitiser and will be washing their hands before and after every tour they do.
Things you’ll need to do to stay safe on our tours:
We will need you to wear a face covering - either a mask or visor. You will be refused admission on our tours if you do not wear a face covering.
We will no longer be giving out wands during the tour, instead we encourage you to bring something with you that you can use as a wand. This can be something as simple as a pen or umbrella, anything roughly wand-shaped will do!
Make sure you keep 2 metres away from your guide and any other household either in your group or nearby during the tour.

A note for anyone booking in November, December or January:
It will be dark in Edinburgh from around 4pm during these months. We are still happy to run Private Tours at this time during these months but please note that the graveyard where we start the tour has no lighting. We've run plenty of tours like this in the past - your guide will bring a torch! - but our tours are certainly more enjoyable in the light.
