We are resuming private tour bookings only from July 15th in accordance with Scotland's lockdown guidelines. Please read all the information below carefully before booking.

 

We are very excited to start leading groups around Edinburgh again but our tours are going to change slightly to ensure the safety of both our guides and our customers.

 

Things we’re doing to keep you safe during our tours:

 

  • All of our guides will be wearing face coverings - either a mask or visor - for the duration of the tour.

  • 2 metre social distancing will be enforced for the duration of the tour. We will only visit locations where this is possible.

  • A maximum of 10 people will be admitted per tour. This means that we are only offering paid private tours during this time. If you book a private tour with us you can be sure that it will only be your group and the guide that is present.

  • Our Sorting Ceremonies will no longer involve physical contact with the Sorting Hat.

  • Our tours will be 100% cashless from now on. We are asking that all private tours be paid in advance using either PayPal or bank transfer. Our guides will also carry card readers but use of these will be discouraged for payments too large for contactless.

  • All of our guides will carry hand sanitiser and will be washing their hands before and after every tour they do.

 

Things you’ll need to do to stay safe on our tours:

 

  • We will need you to wear a face covering - either a mask or visor. You will be refused admission on our tours if you do not wear a face covering.

  • We will no longer be giving out wands during the tour, instead we encourage you to bring something with you that you can use as a wand. This can be something as simple as a pen or umbrella, anything roughly wand-shaped will do!

  • Make sure you keep 2 metres away from your guide and any other household either in your group or nearby during the tour.

How to book a private tour with us:

If you’d like to make a private booking, please fill out the form below and we'll get back to you with a quote. Pricing varies according to group size and type but is always competitive. We’ll get back to you within 24 hours.

We can take bookings for private tours up until 48 hours before the tour date but we can't guarantee we will have availability. If you could give us at least a week's notice that would be better! We definitely won't have availability within 48 hours of request.


We schedule our private tours to fit around our public tours so this generally means we will have available private tour slots at 10am, 12pm and 4pm. We may be able to offer different start times but if they clash with our public tours then we won't be able to confirm them until around a month before.
 

Our tours start at the statue of Greyfriars Bobby, at the junction of George IV Bridge and Candlemaker Row, and end on Victoria Terrace, the raised section of Victoria Street.

The tour will last between 75 and 90 minutes depending on how busy the city is.
