Our Private Tour content is the same as our Free Public Tours but you will get a unique chance to speak one-on-one with our guides to make sure all of your burning Potter questions are answered!
We have lots of experience in catering for groups of all types. We receive a lot of hen party, school group and children's birthday party bookings. Our guides are skilled at matching the tour content to the audience and we have plenty to keep younger members entertained!
We recommend a minimum age of 7 for children to get something out of the tour. Please do not book a tour with us if you are bringing children under 7 years old.
Unlike our free tours these tours are priced per person with a price per head that varies depending on your group size. Click BOOK NOW below to see pricing and what dates/times are available.
We ask you to bring something you can use as a wand. This can be anything roughly wand-shaped - pens, pencils and umbrellas all welcome!
Our tours start at Bobby's Sandwich Shop near the junction of George IV Bridge and Candlemaker Row, and end on Victoria Street.
The tour will last between 75 and 90 minutes depending on how busy the city is.

Our cancellation policy:
With all of our private tours you'll get a full refund up to 24 hours before the tour and a 50% refund within 24 hours. Just email our Head Wizard Sam on contact@pottertrail.com and he'll be happy to sort this for you!

Extended Magic Tours
Are you a family or children's birthday party group looking to add something extra special to your tour? Read on!
For a little extra per head, your tour could be extended to 2 hours with the addition of magic from Edinburgh’s premier family-friendly conjurer, Magus Negus!
He is a real-life magician who aims to delight, dazzle, and maintain the secrecy of the existence of the magical realm (if you are a muggle, please don’t read that last bit – thank you). Presenting a mixture of classical illusions with a unique Potter twist, he has over 10 years’ experience performing for families, international audiences, and even Hollywood film directors!
So whether you’re a witch, wizard, or muggle, you’re going to be in for some serious surprises and maybe even some fantastic beasts...
Our team donates 30% of the money from these tours to a Multiple sclerosis charity.
A note for bookings in November, December or January:
It will be dark in Edinburgh from around 4pm during these months. We are still happy to run Private Tours at this time during these months but please note that the graveyard where we start the tour has no lighting. We've run plenty of tours like this in the past - your guide will bring a torch! - but our tours are certainly more enjoyable in the light.
